CHI 2025 Late Breaking Works Program

The term late-breaking is familiar to those who watch television news. Oftentimes, the regular programming of a 24-hour news network is interrupted by blaring headlines and late-breaking news from around the world.

Similarly, the CHI 2025 Late Breaking Works (LBW) program is designed to accommodate research that may not be completed by the general abstract submission deadline, but has significant impact. This program allows authors to present their research at CHI 2025, in either oral or poster format, while still having the opportunity for future publication of the work.

Authors submitting a LBW must be able to provide justification of why their study was unable to be completed by the general abstract submission deadline. LBW abstracts must be based on original, high-quality clinical science and not be a revision of an abstract submitted during the normal abstract review process.

All LBW abstracts are required to be written in clear, concise and grammatically correct English so that the reviews can focus solely on the scientific merits of the research. Additionally, a conflict of interest statement must be provided by all authors and the name of the presenting author must appear in the abstract.

Those selected for an in-person LBW presentation will be assigned a time and location to present their LBW to CHI 2025 attendees. Accepted LBWs will be published as CHI extended abstracts in the CHI conference proceedings, and will also be included in the ACM digital library. LBWs are semi-archival, and authors will have the opportunity to reuse and resubmit the content in other peer-reviewed publications.
